Your Personal Growth Starts with a New Set of Beliefs
June 4, 2009

Embrace a new day, and face the opportunities it brings.
Creating a new you means seeing the world from a different perspective. That kind of change can stir the soul and revitalize the spirit provided we have the courage to let go of old beliefs and embrace new ones.
What kind of beliefs would those be?
Well, here are a few old and some new beliefs. See what old ideas you may have that you would like to exchange for a new and improved point of view.
Old Belief/New Belief
You must accept your fate./I can create my own destiny.
Don’t get mad, get even./The decisions I make out of kindness I am always most proud of.
Life is unfair./Why should I dwell on the negative? I have the power to create what I want.
Now that’s just a start, we have many more to come, but by now hopefully you’re getting the idea that for any positive change to take place in your life, there must be healing on many levels. Key to that process is the change that we make on an emotional level. Essential to that process is letting go of old ideas and embracing new ones. Beliefs such as these:
Old Belief/New Belief
Success is only the result of hard work./Success comes from making decisions that follow your true self.
I can’t make my dreams come true./I need not be limited. I alone can begin creating what I truly want.
I have to do it./I am always free to choose what I will do based on a full range of options.
Successful people have something I don’t./I have all that I want and need to create success.
Childhood determines your future success./My future is not determined by my past, but by what I do now.
I should not take care of my own needs first./I take care of my needs first so that I can help others freely.
Something is wrong with me if I suffer setbacks./Setbacks are a part of my life’s journey toward success.
I know my limitations./We live in a new age of miracles in which I have a great potential to create change.
Older people automatically lose their vitality./Today as we age we can still experience vibrant health.
Romance comes automatically./Romance is a thing of beauty that I take responsibility to create and grow.
Spiritual development is difficult to embrace./You are surrounded by God’s love if you open your heart to it.
Remember always that change occurs when we directly experience the validity and the power of new beliefs. Contemplate the power of change and you will see ways that it can be successfully integrated into your life. We all have the power to recreate ourselves when and if we decide to give up our old beliefs and open our hearts to a world of new opportunities.
