The Obamas: The New First Couple

The Obamas: The New First Couple

As Michelle and Barack Obama campaigned tirelessly together throughout 2007 and 2008, Americans got to know this dynamic couple. Now, as they move into the White House there is great excitement about the kind of first couple they will be.

Don’t be surprised if you see this new president in many more photos with his wife and family, than his predecessors. This appears to clearly be the center of his universe.

Through many scenes of Barack and Michelle Obama together a pretty clear and strong connection between the new president and first lady comes through. It was evident on the night that Barack won the nomination, evident throughout the party’s convention, and on display with unmistakable clarity on the night of November 4th, when along with daughter’s Sasha and Malia, they took the stage at a massive victory celebration in Chicago’s Grant Park.

While many politicians have spoken in recent years of family values, it seems that this power couple lives the message of putting family first. Beyond their words, are many powerful deeds. Take for example the family moving en masse to Washington D.C. two weeks earlier than needed so that Sasha and Malia could start class on the first day of their new school’s spring session. With all the upheaval of forming a new administration this couple also takes time for each other, going out on date nights, something they plan to continue while in residence at the White House.

What’s most interesting about the Obamas as a couple is how they work as a team to support one another and it appears that their devotion to their children is an integral party of their family unity.

The pressures of this office are obviously enormous, and only the passage of time will clearly tell the story of how their time on the world stage will impact the Obamas as a couple and as a family. We think it’s a safe guess that this first couple will be up to the task of not only offering change for America, but also sending a message to all Americans that the power of family is rooted in the power of love.

For Barack and Michelle Obama, the backbone of their devotion to each other is their love, and the power of love is the world’s most enduring force for change.

MVL Valentine’s Day Countdown Tip #10:

Love Every Hour, on the Hour

Your beloved doesn’t need reminders that this is a very special day in both your lives. Still, that doesn’t mean you can’t leave little messages that reinforce your love and affection. Once an hour, do so by text message or email. This lets your partner know that you’re counting down the minutes to when you are both together again.
