The Yoga Connection to Better Sex
August 4, 2009
Practicing yoga can have a powerful and immediate impact on the quality of your sexual life. This is particularly true for couples that either attend yoga sessions together or simply practice yoga at home.
The practical connection between yoga and improved sexual performance is apparent when one stops to consider the many ways that yoga and sexuality align. Here is a list of four essential ways in which this connection occurs and how each one of them can have a positive and powerful impact on your sexual life.
Flexibility: Perhaps here the connection between our sex life and yoga is most obvious. Being better able to move our hips, and all other joints can have a profoundly powerful effect on sexual performance. Increased range of motion can be critical in helping us to reach just the right position that can change discomfort into pleasurable arousal.
Breathing: So much of yoga is about steady and relaxed breath control. Here too the impact is rather obvious allowing us to focus our sexual energy more on pleasure and performance and less on our basic need to breath deeply during times of physical exertion.
Core Strengthening: This is another area of physical performance that we tend to ignore in our daily lives, but it can make a very big difference in bedroom performance. The value of core strengthening is just as you might imagine it to be. It simply means building the essential foundation of your physical strength. This comes from creating improved abdominal and lower back muscles. Toned arms and legs are great for an improved beach body, but if you want to see a real difference in your physical performance, core strengthening is essential to your overall performance both in and out of the bedroom. Pelvic strength and core strength are inseparable in mastering your physical actions.
Relaxing: The practice of yoga has also a lot to do with releasing and thereby reducing your level of physical anxiety. Yoga has a wonderful ability to unwind mental stress and bring your focus back to your body. This is accomplished in two principle ways: First, the aspect of meditation that yoga encourages; draining mental stress out of our minds and putting us into a more tranquil state. Second, the physical exertion involved in a series of yoga movements disconnects mental tension as we focus on our physicality.
Finally, if possible, consider the added benefits and enjoyment of taking yoga classes together with your partner. Improved physical movement and reduced levels of stress can only have a positive effect on sexual pleasure and performance, not to mention every other aspect of your lives together.
With each year we age our range of motion is lessened. Yoga helps greatly to reverse this process. Ease and range of motion and enhanced physicality are what make the yoga sex connection a path worthy of your time and attention.
